Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Assessment (DWINSA)
Tata & Howard has completed Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Assessments (DWINSA) for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection for numerous municipalities including the Upper Cape Cooperative, Barre, Uxbridge, Northampton, Westfield, Edgartown, Northborough, Sandwich, Worcester, Aquarion Water Company in Millbury, Oxford, and Hingham and Milford Water Company. The DWINSA outlines needed capital projects required over a twenty year time period for certain public water systems. The work included site visits, interviews, evaluation of existing facilities, review of documents and outline of project needs including documentation. These assessments are submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for allocation of State Revolving Funds (SRF).
In 2015, Tata & Howard was awarded the highest number of DWINSA contracts of any engineering consultant. The DWINSA contracts are for the following public water systems: Aquarion Water Company Millbury, Avon Water Department, Dighton Water District, Dudley Water Department, Edgartown Water Department, Falmouth Water Department, Halifax Water Department, Hingham/Hull Aquarion Water Company, Newton Water Department, Northampton Water Department, Pepperell DPW-Water Division, Sandwich Water District, Uxbridge DPW, Water Division, Westfield Water Department, Worcester DPW-Water Supply Division, and North Brookfield.
