Water Reclamation Facilities

Water Reclamation Facilities are most prevalent in arid areas. Water reuse receives high priority in the southwest due to the overall scarcity of water.

The quality standards for water reuse in Arizona are strict. The standard for reuse, Class A+, requires turbidity of less than 2 NTU and the absence of fecal coliform bacteria.  In order to maintain such high quality effluent on a consistent basis, it is necessary to utilize a high level of treatment prior to water reuse.  Processes such as membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology are finding greater use due to their ability to provide a high quality effluent on a consistent basis.
